Although slightly smaller in dimensions, the Nokia N97 actually weighs more than the iPhone, but only marginally so. Both phones are similar in appearance with the only notable difference being that the Nokia N97 has a slide out Qwerty keyboard and a larger, tilting screen - the iPhone on the other hand is one solid unit that features touchscreen keys.
The Nokia N97 is the best for viewing TV and films as it has true widescreen and higher resolution than the iPhone. For those of you keen to use the camera function on your phone, it is interesting to know that the N97 has dual LEDs flash and features video streaming, whereas the iPhone 3GS camera still doesn't have a flash. Having said that, there are many useful features that the iPhone (3G and 3GS) is famous for including: internet tethering, built in iPod support, email, maps and safari browser. Aside from the features, one thing that could really swing the polls is the fact that even if you already own an iPhone 3G, you cannot upgrade to a 3GS without forking out more money, and the new iPhone 3GS handset will cost you at least £175 (on the cheapest contract available at £30 a month). But with the iPhone you really are paying for the trusted brand and quality.
In summary, both phones offer enough features to keep any smartphone geek happy, but ultimately it comes down to personal taste. It seems like the battle between the Nokia n97 and the iPhone 3GS will continue for some time to come.
